    What the evidence says

    1. Independently verified

Vacuum Wars bought a Matic and tested it for several weeks in two homes: it measured far more suction than the average robot it tests (8.11 kPa against about 0.86 kPa) and picked up all of the flattened pet hair, but it navigated slowly, avoided 14 of 24 test objects, and at 7.8 inches tall could not clean under most beds and couches. It has no self-emptying dock.

    2. Company claim

Matic says its perception system runs entirely on the robot, on an NVIDIA computing platform, so maps, video and audio stay in the home; it says the robot needs no internet connection and shares usage data only if the owner opts in.

    3. Company claim

Matic says the robot is designed and assembled in Mountain View, California, with components from around the world.

    4. Regulator-documented

On October 2, 2026 the FCC announced that the Department of War had granted Conditional Approval to Matic Robots' Robotic Floor Cleaner (model 4MA0001) and Charging Dock (model 4DK0008), exempting them from the FCC Covered List. Since July 28, 2026 that list has included foreign-produced advanced robotic devices, which cannot get new FCC equipment authorizations. Approvals without an end date stay in force while the company follows its onshoring plan.

    5. Documented by company source

Matic doesn't describe remote staff helping the robot and says it works without an internet connection. Human involvement is left blank because none of the Index's options describes this.

    What changed

    1. MilestoneExempted from the FCC Covered List

The FCC announced that the Department of War had granted Conditional Approval to Matic's floor-cleaning robot and charging dock, exempting them from the FCC Covered List.

Since July 28, 2026, foreign-produced home robots can't get new FCC equipment authorizations unless they hold such an approval. Matic's has no end date, as long as Matic follows its onshoring plan.
