    What the evidence says

    1. Company claim

Nanit says sleep tracking needs only the camera mounted overhead on its floor stand or wall mount, with nothing worn by the baby. Breathing-motion monitoring uses a separate sensor-free Breathing Band, and the flex stand doesn't support sleep tracking.

    2. Independently verified

A 2023 Sleep Health study by Ben-Gurion University researchers compared Nanit's automatic sleep-wake scoring with human-scored video for 16 infants over 50 nights. Nanit detected sleep 97.8% of the time but correctly identified wakefulness only 60.4% of the time, and the authors call the study preliminary. Nanit funded two authors' salaries for the video coding and recruited the infants.

    3. Company claim

Nanit says its Insights plan is not required to use the monitor. Insights adds sleep scores, sleep analytics, a movement map and milestone captures; its price is not published on the pages checked.
